Alex Kunisky

Graduate Student

Alex is a graduate student in the CNUP at Pitt and has been working with Dr. Mathys to identify and understand the transcriptomic changes in the brain that are indicative of normal aging or Alzheimer’s disease.

Kimia Ghafari

Health Science Research Fellow

Kimia is a post-baccalaureate researcher interested in neural pathways and the role of astrocytes during Alzheimer’s disease progression. Her research focuses on the correlation between astrocytic genes and pathology/cognition in Alzheimer’s disease patients.

Sudhagar Babu

Health Science Research Fellow

Sudhagar is a post-graduate research fellow with a background in Biotechnology. Having identified several transcriptionally distinct microglial cell types, he is trying to elucidate novel regulators that govern and modulate microglia activation in Neurodegeneration using pooled CRISPR screens.

Hongyi Zhao

Visiting Scholar

Shihan Wang

Visiting Scholar

Shihan is a visiting scholar from Tsinghua University. She is interested in the mechanism of Alzheimer’s disease by looking into the roles of microglia and astrocytes.
